SUMMARY
Responsible for providing Embedded Software/Hardware support for operations, supply chain and R&D. Troubleshooting support for new and existing products. Helps to ensure operational goals and continuous improvement for the product portfolio. Maintains, manufacturing and test equipment to ensure highest manufacturing processes uptime and reliability.

Duties
- Validation, documentation, and management of software, firmware, electronics hardware and test equipment for our products.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines, product management, operations and supply chain teams
- Perform and assist remote, supplier on-site premises troubleshooting and problem solving of existing products.
- Provide support for manufacturing and troubleshooting of current and future products.
- Generate and maintain documentation for suppliers.
- Generate and maintain automated tests and test benches to ensure high-quality and accurate functionality of products.
- Be involved in the full life cycle of software, firmware and hardware development from concept through integration, test, and release.
- Actively support, engage and interact with other development teams in the Pfeiffer Vacuum group to ensure conformance with existing product platforms and communication protocols, processes and procedures
- Hands-on problem solving including actively maintaining and repairing tools including soldering and test cable preparation.
- Addresses and resolves equipment related problems regarding technical issues or quality concerns by proposing timely and effective solutions

70% inside, climate / noise-controlled office, and 30% manufacturing environment; lifting to 50 lbs. on occasion. Eye and hearing protection and other personal protective equipment may be required.
Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Work requires computer skills (programming in various languages and Labview, word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

General Qualifications
- Must have strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize and complete multiple competing tasks within a limited schedule.
- Must have a strong system and component troubleshooting skills with prior experience in the field of technical support. Direct experience with downstream pressure control systems and vacuum valves preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, subordinates, customers, and other departmental personnel in a professional and positive manner.
- Technical writing skills to include the preparation of engineering test protocols, engineering test reports, and manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation processes, especially software documentation such as block-diagrams, flow charts, SW version control systems, and the like.
- Record and evaluate testing data, alter designs as necessary to bring them to national and international safety, performance and efficiency standards
- Familiar with software test methodologies and architecture including Jenkins environment with HIL.
- Proficient with version control systems such as GIT or Subversion.
- Requires strong ability to work with others in the department to share specific knowledge of products, processes, and/or procedures to continuously make improvements.
- Prepare and conduct technical meetings/presentations.
- Preparation of routine layouts, detail drawings, sketches, and diagrams revisions and update of CAD drawings.
- Ability to effectively use MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Teams and Sharepoint (or their equivalent).
- Ability to communicate with others in acceptance of desired changes, improvements of software design.
- Position may require travel and overnight stay on workdays and weekends.

Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and training, equivalent to technicians or bachelor’s degree in, Software or Electrical Engineering providing the required knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the job.
Minimum of 36-months in related software and electronics engineering, or evidence of high aptitude to learn combined with additional job-specific education. Receives appropriate directions on assignments from cross functional engineers, and/or appropriate interdepartmental personnel. Exercise high-level independent, discretionary judgment on a regular basis.
