Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Welding Process Engineer to support our expanding operations in tube and manifold fabrication. This role will lead to development, qualification, and continuous improvement of welding processes to meet demanding customer and industry requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in welding technology, hands-on experience with precision fabrication, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize welding procedures for stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum components, particularly tube and manifold assemblies.
- Define and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in compliance with standards like ASME Section IX or AWS D1.1.
- Design and validate welding jigs, fixtures, and tooling to ensure repeatable quality and productivity.
- Support welder training and certification, including hands-on evaluation and performance monitoring.
- Provide technical support to welders and production teams for troubleshooting weld defects, distortion, and process variability.
- Collaborate with quality and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team to resolve non-conformities using root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

- Visual Testing (VT): Inspection of welds for surface defects, undercut, misalignment, and porosity using visual tools and gauges.
- Penetrant Testing (PT): Surface crack detection using dye penetrants on non-porous materials.
- Radiographic Testing (RT): X-ray or gamma-ray inspection to detect internal weld defects (voids, inclusions, lack of fusion).
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Use of high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws in weld joints.
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): Magnetic field-based testing to find surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials.

- Drive process improvement projects in welding efficiency, cost reduction, defect rate reduction, and cycle time improvement.
- Lead or support welding automation and robotics projects (if applicable).
- Work with suppliers or customers on weld-related technical discussions, inspections, or audits.
Note: The Welding Process Engineer is expected to work closely with NDT technicians and interpret results where applicable to improve weld quality.
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in welding process engineering, ideally in tube & manifold manufacturing, vacuum, pressure vessels, or complex assemblies.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes (ASME, AWS) and qualification practices.
- Hands-on experience with TIG, MIG/MAG welding processes; orbital welding, laser welding experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with welding metallurgy, weld symbols, and joint design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, NX) for fixture and weldment design.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone diagram, FMEA, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Has been holding CWI at least 02 years or equivalent certification is plus.
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems for managing process routings and documentation.
- Understanding of NDT reports and inspection standards.
- Exposure to welding automation, robotic welding cells, or programmable welding equipment.
