Job summary
A Senior Production Planner is responsible for developing and controlling production plans for high-mix, low-to-high volume manufacturing. The role ensures on-time delivery, optimal capacity utilization, and effective coordination across Production, Engineering, Procurement, and global supply chain functions in compliance with Pfeiffer Vacuum global standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Master Production Planning
- Develop and maintain rolling MPP as a long-term supply and capacity feasibility plan.
- Evaluate demand versus factory capacity, labor, machinery, and material availability.
- Identify long term gaps and propose actions.
- Provide MPS scenarios and capacity outlooks as input for S&OP, IBP.
- Detailed Weekly Production Planning
- Convert approved MPP into weekly detailed production plans based on actual customer orders, customer requests, capacity and delivery commitments in consideration of flexibility of BOM and Routing.
- Sequence production orders to ensure on-time delivery in full.
- Define and manage planning fences to protect production plan stability and enable disciplined decision-making.
- Analyze machine, labor, and bottleneck capacity for precision machining, assembly, and production processes.
- Work closely with Engineering on ECN/ECR impacts to production planning.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure availability of long lead-time and imported materials.
- Monitor production progress versus plan and drive recovery actions for delays.
- Track planning KPIs: OTIF, schedule adherence, backlog, inventory levels.
- Customer Order Confirmation & Monitoring
- Coordinate with Sales / Customer Service to confirm order details including quantity, product specifications, delivery dates, special requirements, and any changes.
- Validate order feasibility based on production capacity, inventory, material availability, and current production plans; proactively propose solutions when delivery commitments are at risk.
- Track order execution status and provide timely updates to stakeholders and customers in case of schedule or delivery date changes.
- Ensure customer order confirmation data is accurately maintained in ERP/MRP systems and fully aligned with production planning.
- Process & System Improvement
- Lead improvements in planning processes, MRP parameters, and ERP data accuracy (SAP).
- Support alignment with Pfeiffer Vacuum global supply chain standards and best practices.
- Define and maintain min–max levels, safety stock, and replenishment rules aligned with MPP and consumption patterns.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and suppliers to improve inventory visibility and replenishment reliability.
- Monitor FMI KPIs: inventory turns, service level, excess & obsolete risk.
- Analyze issues related to order confirmation (late confirmation, frequent changes, planning deviations) and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in production planning within manufacturing.
- Experience working in FDI or multinational manufacturing companies is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills; solid experience with SAP (PP/MM).
- Ability to work with complex BOMs and engineering-driven environments.
- Effective communication in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Analyze production, order data, optimize production cost.
- Manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure factory environment.
- Resolve issues quickly, prioritizing customer satisfaction and ensuring uninterrupted production.
- Good at English.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all organization levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
