Job summary

As a Senior Logistics & Import/Export Specialist at a Manufacturing Site, you are responsible for managing inbound and outbound logistics, import/export operations, and customs clearance while closely coordinating with relevant teams. The role ensures timely material availability for production, compliant export of finished goods, cost optimization, and uninterrupted factory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inbound Logistics
  • Coordinate import of raw materials, components, and equipment for production.
  • Work closely with Planning & Purchasing to ensure material availability in line with MRP and production schedules.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve issues impacting production continuity.
  • Outbound Logistics
  • Manage export operations of finished goods from factory to customers.
  • Work with forwarders to book ships/air/trucks and optimize shipping routes.
  • Prepare and control export documentation (Invoice, Packing List, B/L, COO, etc.).
  • Ensure on-time delivery and compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Import–Export & Customs Compliance
  • Implement and control all import and export activities for the factory.
  • Handle customs declaration, HS code classification, import/export duties, and FTA benefits.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, forwarders, and brokers for compliant and efficient clearance.
  • Prepare and manage customs finalization and related compliance reports on raw materials, inventory, consumption norms, and import/export activities as required by Customs Authorities.
  • Support post-clearance audits and internal compliance reviews.
  • Vendor Management & Cost Optimization
  • Manage and evaluate performance of forwarders, carriers, and transport providers.
  • Monitor and handle logistics and shipping claims if they arise.
  • Negotiate logistics costs, SLAs, and service terms.
  • Analyze factory logistics costs and propose cost-saving initiatives.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare factory logistics KPIs reports: OTIF, lead time, costs, and compliance.
  • Identify supply chain risks impacting production and propose mitigation actions.
  • Participate in Lean and continuous improvement projects

Qualifications

  • Functional Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Foreign trade, or related field.
  • At least 5 years proven experience in relevant position, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing logistics, import/export, and customs.
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms, HS codes, duties, and factory clearance processes.
  • Experience with ERP/SAP, MRP, and warehouse management systems.
  • Good at English.
  • Good MS Office proficiency
  • Methodological Competencies
  • Analyze logistics data, costs, and 3PL KPIs.
  • Manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure factory environment.
  • Resolve issues quickly, prioritizing customer shipments and ensuring uninterrupted production.
