Job summary

As a Junior Strategic Procurement, you will support strategic sourcing and supplier development activities for new product introductions (NPI), transfers, and running production. Your role focuses on executing tasks that enhance supply chain resilience, quality, cost-efficiency, and compliance. Under the guidance of senior team members, you will assist in market analysis, evaluate the supplier pool, and coordinate with R&D/Engineering to find the best sourcing solutions. This position plays a proactive role in ensuring supplier readiness for volume increases and alternative sourcing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic sourcing – Projects and Running production
  • Assist in executing sourcing strategies for assigned categories across NPI, transfers, and serial production; participate in market scans and compiling supplier shortlists.
  • Support the RFx/Bidding/eAuctions process, collect data for total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and help prepare business cases for award recommendations.
  • Coordinate documentation with R&D/Engineering regarding specifications and drawings for design-to-cost/design-for-manufacturing.
  • Follow up with QA for supplier qualification and first-article/PPAP/FAI processes.
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
  • Maintain daily communication and relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support the implementation and tracking of Supplier Improvement Plans based on supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, and cost).
  • Negotiation & Cost Management
  • Assist in negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery conditions with suppliers under structured guidelines and company policies.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives through data gathering, volume bundling analysis, or alternative supplier evaluations.
  • Monitor market prices and commodity trends to provide data-driven insights for risk mitigation.
  • Procurement Administration
  • Ensure timely creation, accuracy, and completeness of purchase orders (PO) and procurement documentation in the ERP system (SAP, etc.).
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate supplier and material master data records.
  • Track open orders and proactively update delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely supplier payments.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate closely with planning, production, R&D, and logistics to align day-to-day procurement activities with operational requirements.
  • Participate in project teams (transfer or new development) by assisting in sourcing new goods or services.
  • Support engineering changes, part substitutions, and discontinuation processes with timely sourcing data adjustments.
  • Align with the Global Lead Buyer on local development tasks.
  • Compliance & Risk Mitigation
  • Adhere strictly to internal procurement policies, corporate ethics, and industry regulations.
  • Support risk assessment activities for key suppliers and help maintain documentation for high-risk or single-source items.
  • Maintain clear audit trails and documentation in line with ISO, IATF, or other relevant

Qualifications

  • Functional Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supplier coordination in manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of strategic sourcing principles, cost structures, and TCO concepts.
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification processes (APQP/PPAP/FAI) and basic knowledge of categories like mechanics, electronics, electro-mechanical, or sheet metal.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and procurement modules (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle, IFS).
  • Basic understanding of supply chain processes and supplier performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Methodological Competencies
  • Strong data analytical skills (proficiency in Excel is required).
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on meticulous documentation.
  • Good time and priority management to handle urgent daily requests alongside ongoing projects.
