We have an immediate opportunity available for an experienced CNC Machinist in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The work schedule is M-F, 7am-330pm.

The CNC Machinist will support the manufacturing of standard instrumentation products along with the manufacturing of custom leak test and assembly equipment. Qualified candidates must have the capability to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and change from one high priority project to another quickly is required. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine the most efficient machining processes required to manufacture components in accordance with design requirements.
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including saws, drill presses, lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, CNC machining centers, and CNC lathes, to produce precision, high-quality components within specified tolerances.
  • Select and apply appropriate cutting tools, machining parameters, and cutting fluids to optimize machining performance, maintain dimensional accuracy, and achieve required surface finishes across a variety of materials.
  • Edit and troubleshoot CNC machine programs using G-code and M-code programming to support production requirements and process improvements.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Interpret assembly drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to identify components, understand assembly requirements, and determine the functional relationship of parts within mechanical systems.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to deburr, polish, assemble, align, secure, and adjust mechanical components during manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Diagnose machining and cutting tool performance issues and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and process efficiency.
  • Modify, adjust, and maintain tooling, including relief grinding, tool length setting, and tool optimization, to support production requirements.
  • Install, configure, and support CAM software updates and upgrades to maintain manufacturing system functionality and performance.
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions, perform basic maintenance, and recommend or implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and increase productivity.
  • Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards and company operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and implement process improvements.

Required Experience & Personal Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Proven experience setting up, programming, and operating 3-axis CNC machining centers and/or 2-axis CNC lathes
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software; experience with CAM programming is required. Experience with Esprit software is preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, and other inspection tools
  • Experience machining stainless steel materials, including 303, 304, and 316 grades
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal customers and cross-functional teams
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and willing to perform a variety of tasks as needed, including machine assembly, equipment maintenance, and repair activities
  • Working knowledge of 4-axis machining operations is preferred
  • Experience using Esprit CAD/CAM software or similar CAM software- Preferred
  • Exposure to SolidWorks- Preferred

Job Requirements 

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license
  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check 
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis 
  • Must pass respirator fit test (annual retesting required) 
  • Must be willing to maintain facial hair to a minimum for respirator fitment 
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship, as we do not sponsor Visas. 

Physical Requirements

  • This position will work in a warehouse/service center. Indoor and climate controlled industrial environment.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, and occasional lifting. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and move intermittently throughout the day. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, presentations and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers.
