We have an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Assembly Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The work schedule is M-F, 7am-330pm.

The Assembly Technician will assemble complex vacuum pump and leak detection systems, build electrical control panels, fabricate enclosures, and wire external components. Performs final system testing in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, implementing design improvements, and leading continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble scientific instrumentation, valves, piping, vessels, pumps, structural components, and subassemblies into complete vacuum systems, leak detection systems, and standard products by interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
  • Perform basic to advanced electrical wiring, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic connections, ensuring proper system functionality
  • Verify safe electrical installations, implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, energize circuits, and record electrical measurements (amperage/voltage)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues encountered during assembly, testing, and system startup
  • Read and interpret complex electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics to support build accuracy and issue resolution
  • Perform final system testing, validation, and performance verification to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve workflow efficiency, and optimize assembly processes
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive design-for-assembly (DFA) improvements and enhance product manufacturability
  • Recommend and implement minor design or component changes with engineering approval to improve system performance and reliability
  • Design, document, and execute electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system modifications

Required Experience & Personal Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience with vacuum systems and leak detection technologies preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities across multiple disciplines (electrical, mechanical, fluid systems)
  • Welding and fabrication experience supporting custom builds and modifications helpful
  • Strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail and creative problem solving and process planning are required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work under tight and frequently changing deadlines in a dynamic business environment is necessary

Job Requirements 

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license
  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check 
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis 
  • Must pass respirator fit test (annual retesting required) 
  • Must be willing to maintain facial hair to a minimum for respirator fitment 
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship, as we do not sponsor Visas. 

Physical Requirements

  • This position will work in a warehouse/service center. Indoor and climate controlled industrial environment.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, and occasional lifting. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and move intermittently throughout the day. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, presentations and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers.
