SUMMARY

 

The Buyer/Planner – Intercompany is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing purchasing activities that support internal business unit demand across global sites. This includes creating purchase orders (POs), managing forecasts, balancing supply and demand across intercompany transfers, and maintaining material availability while optimizing inventory levels.

Manages more complex intercompany material flow, reviews forecast, analyzes demand, and resolves PO discrepancies. Coordinates with cross-functional teams on delivery scheduling and supplier performance. Begins to participate in planning activities and lead minor improvement projects.

Duties

 

  1. Evaluate internal demand requirements and generate POs for intercompany materials.
  2. Coordinate delivery timelines across global company sites.
  3. Process and maintain accurate purchase orders and system data.
  4. Resolve backorders, shipping delays, and PO/invoicing discrepancies.
  5. Work with receiving, warehouse, and quality to resolve any non-conformance or returns.
  6. Maintain supplier/item pricing and contract details in ERP system.
  7. Communicate with internal customers and stakeholders regarding delivery status, changes, or planning adjustments.
  8. Support supply planning by assisting with forecast analysis, safety stock, and demand signals.
  9. Analyze demand trends and adjust order quantities to optimize inventory levels.
  10. Work directly with intercompany sites to align production and delivery schedules.
  11. Participate in system and process improvements for planning and order management.
  12. Conduct root cause analysis of delays or planning errors.

General Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with SAP ERP and MRP systems required.
  • Working knowledge of demand planning, inventory control, and intercompany transactions preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment and collaborate effectively across functions.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree, Preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.

 

Language Skills

 

  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, forecasts, contracts, and system reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and global sites.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

  • Ability to calculate percentages, ratios, and variances. Ability to analyze demand trends, inventory levels, and forecast data to support purchasing decisions.

 

 

 

Reasoning Ability

 

  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in resolving supply issues and balancing material flow across intercompany sites.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP, Preferred
  • Procurement Certification (APICS), Preferred
