This is a key technical role focused on implementing, and continuously improving assembly processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency, ensure product quality, and reduce costs. The Assembly Engineer will act as the primary technical expert for the assembly line, driving process optimization, leading new product introductions (NPI), and solving complex manufacturing challenges. While providing technical guidance to the assembly team, the primary focus of this position is on process engineering rather than direct people management and output tracking.

Responsibilities

1. Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze existing assembly processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement regarding cycle time, yield, and cost.
  • Design, develop, and implement optimized assembly workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Lead continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve process stability, ergonomics, and quality.
  • Implement and manage error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) systems to eliminate defects.
  • Establish and monitor key process indicators (KPIs) to track process performance and drive data-driven decisions.

2. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Technical Validation

  • Act as the manufacturing engineering lead for NPI projects, collaborating closely with R&D and Design teams.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback during the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop the complete assembly process for new products, including process flow, line layout, and tooling requirements.
  • Lead the execution of process validation (e.g., IQ, OQ, PQ) and First Article Inspection (FAI) for new processes and products.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and technical reports for new processes.

3. Technical Problem Solving & Quality Assurance

  • Lead advanced root cause analysis (using 8D, 5-Whys, Fishbone, etc.) for complex quality and production issues.
  • Implement robust and sustainable corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Serve as the technical authority on cleanroom standards (Class 100/1000), ensuring all processes and equipment comply.
  • Work with the QA team to define quality criteria and inspection methods within the assembly process.

4. Production & Team Technical Support

  • Serve as the primary technical expert and point of contact for assemblers and production supervisors to resolve on-line process issues.
  • Develop and deliver technical training to assemblers on new processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to ensure production plans are technically feasible and executed efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a process engineering or manufacturing engineering role within an assembly environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in process design, optimization, and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma).
  • Proven experience working within a cleanroom environment (Class 100/1000).
  • Strong background in assembling complex systems involving mechanical, electronic, and wiring parts.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal).

Skills & Expertise

  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, etc.) for fixture and tool design.
    • In-depth knowledge and practical application of quality and process control tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, DOE).
    • Expertise in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Whys, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Core Competencies:
    • Exceptional analytical and data-driven problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong project management skills, especially in the context of NPI and improvement projects.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and a systematic approach to work.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
