This role involves 3D modeling, tolerance analysis, prototype validation using additive manufacturing (3D printing), and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and performance, based on a strong understanding of product architecture and user requirements. The engineer supports the product development lifecycle from concept to mass production, contributing to innovation and cost-effective design solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Strong understanding of product architecture, functional requirements, and system-level interactions
- Design mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX)
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure dimensional accuracy
- Operate and maintain 3D printers to support rapid prototyping and design validation
- Develop and maintain 2D drawings and E-BOMs for manufacturing and procurement
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and test lab teams to ensure system integration
- Conduct design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and reliability
- Support prototype fabrication and validation testing
- Analyze mechanical failures and implement design improvements
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., RoHS, CE)
- Communicate with suppliers for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly)
- Document design iterations and maintain revision control throughout the product development lifecycle
Skills and Specifications
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques including sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, precision machining, and mechanical assembly
- Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) for structural analysis
- Problem-solving skills and root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, Fishbone Diagram)
- Effective communication and teamwork across engineering disciplines
- Strong skills in technical documentation, including design reports and engineering change records
- Basic understanding of product certification and regulatory compliance
- English communication skills for collaboration with global teams
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in mechanical design or product development
- Preferred experience in industries such as consumer electronics, semiconductor equipment, or industrial machinery
