Lean Specialist

As a Lean Specialist, you play a critical role in driving operational excellence by implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing principles across the organization. You act as a catalyst for change, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and improve process flow, productivity, and quality. Your role combines analytical thinking, hands-on facilitation, and strong collaboration skills to embed a culture of continuous improvement at all levels of the business.
With a solid understanding of Lean tools and methodologies, you lead improvement workshops, train teams, and support projects that align with strategic goals. Your contributions directly support enhanced operational performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

- Lean Assessment & Process Analysis

- Analyze current manufacturing and business processes to identify waste, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct value stream mapping (VSM) sessions to visualize end-to-end processes and propose future-state designs.
- Perform time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis to support productivity initiatives.
- Implementation of Lean Tools

- Facilitate and implement Lean methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Standard Work, Visual Management, SMED, and Poka-Yoke.
- Support the rollout of Lean Daily Management Systems, including performance boards and shift meetings.
- Lead root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) and problem-solving activities.
- Kaizen & Improvement Projects

- Plan and facilitate kaizen events in production, logistics, maintenance, and support functions.
- Define and execute improvement projects aimed at reducing lead time, increasing throughput, and improving quality.
- Monitor project results, measure KPIs (e.g., Overall Equipment Effectiveness, cycle time, scrap rate), and report performance against targets.
- Training & Capability Building

- Conduct Lean awareness sessions and hands-on training for team members at all levels.
- Coach frontline employees, supervisors, and engineers in applying Lean tools to their daily work.
- Promote a Lean mindset and reinforce the importance of standardization and discipline in continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to optimize end-to-end processes.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives that drive efficiency, flexibility, and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Act as a liaison between shop floor personnel and management during improvement initiatives.
- Documentation & Standardization

- Develop, document, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and work instructions.
- Ensure processes are repeatable, scalable, and auditable by integrating lean into standard work systems.
- Sustainability & Auditing

- Support the implementation and follow-up of Lean audits and maturity assessments.
- Track improvement actions, ensure their long-term sustainability, and escalate roadblocks when needed.
- Continuously evaluate improvement efforts and adjust strategies as business conditions evolve.
