Production Planner I

Busch Vacuum Solutions has immediate direct hire opportunity open for a Production Planner I at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

The Production Planner I position is responsible for executing the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in the ERP system, carrying out Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and managing Statistical Inventory Control (SIC) planning. This role involves communicating, recommending actions, and updating the ERP system as necessary to ensure the timely fulfillment of internal and external requirements within the Value Stream.

Job Responsibilities

• Analyzes, plans, releases, controls, reschedules, and cancels production and supplier orders based on requirements in ERP via MRP.
• Analyzes requirements for assigned resources & production lines, makes decisions regarding Production strategies while maintaining the expected level of customer service satisfaction (OTD)
• Oversees, analyzes, and makes procurement recommendations regarding purchase orders and/or strategies, based on requests received from customer (internal and external) and trends.
• Performs assembly line and machine shop capacity planning and communicates the production schedule with responsible production departments.
• Contacts Supply Chain regarding material problems within assigned planning codes that are either the result of demand fluctuations, delayed receipt, quality issues, etc.
• Evaluates and monitors assigned production areas or suppliers in regards to performance standards, recommends actions as needed.
• Maintains records and documentation related to past activities, order specs, supplier specs and performance histories and provides to management as needed.
• Implements engineering changes.
• Reviews planning documents such as Planned Releases, Shortage Report, Line Leader updates, Article Inspection Reports, Engineering Change Reports, Material Discrepancy Reports, and other planning reports for correct data elements, verifies data requirements, and calculates requirements into the appropriate existing data management system.

• Liaising with customers, suppliers, and operations.
• Works cross functionally to rectify defective or unacceptable goods and subsequent plans for future.  
• Participates in meetings, conferences, seminars, training, and other technical programs to remains current in material/procurement management policies, procedures, and technological developments in the industry as related to assigned function.
• Responsible for participating in lean process improvements and problem-solving activities.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities such as analyzing and recommending material replenishment, or an equivalent combination of formal education: Required
• Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school): Required (Preferred Field of Study, Business, Supply Chain Management or Logistics)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office:(Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email): Required
• Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning): Required
• Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) Software: Strongly Preferred
• APICS Required
• Certified Professional Project Management Professional (PMP): Preferred
• Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM): Preferred
• Lean Six Sigma White Belt: Preferred
• Valid Drivers, license must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch Insurance standards.

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
• Willingness to travel domestically for training

Physical Requirements

• Frequent reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs
• Constant standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 5lbs
• Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
• All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
