Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for an experienced Product Engineer at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

 

The Product Engineer I position is responsible for designing products to customer specifications and leading continuous improvement activities related to the products, while adhering to industry standards. The engineer is an active member of new product development projects and addressing daily responsibilities of supporting external and internal customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads product change management projects from feasibility study to production including new product launch.
  • Supports product management activities including product change communication to customers.
  • Creates and maintains technical product data in the company's ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Prepares proposals and quotations for custom orders.  
  • Provides product design direction and reviews 2D engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Leads design reviews using a DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) approach.
  • Acts as technical product support for internal and external customers. 
  • Supports and sometimes leads root cause analysis. 
  • Designs, prepares, and safely conducts development tests, including standard pump performance tests and special problem-solving experiments. 
  • Proposes product improvement changes based on empirical analysis with prepared test reports. 
  • Provides general direction to intern and temporary employees on assigned projects.
  • Promotes safety awareness and provides safe work environment
  • Must comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures while reporting all unsafe activities and concerns to the General Manager, safety officer, or human resources.

 

 

Required Experience

  • 6 months to 3 years of related work experience: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Required
  • Field of Study: Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering: Required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Required
  • Computer Aided Design and Drafting experience: Required
  • Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench experience: Preferred
  • Valid Drivers’ License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards): Required
  • Valid passport for international travel must be maintained

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically and internationally

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
