Maintenance/Custodian

Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for an experienced Maintenance Custodian at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia! 

The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for performing general labor duties. This includes inside facility, outside facility, and roof tops.  Maintenance-Custodian must make minor facility repairs for electrical, plumbing and landscaping, as well as driving company truck to pick up supplies. Maintenance Custodian will perform all preventative maintenance on facility and equipment per schedule.  Must be able to set/unset security to building.

Job Responsibilities

• Collects and dispose of garbage, trash, and cutting chips
• Stores pallets and drums for recycle
• Crushes and bale recyclable cardboard
• Empties outside ashtrays in smoking areas
• Sweeps and scrub main aisles
• Picks up Trash around the building and parking lot
• Pulls weeds and maintain flower beds
• Inspects rooftop and remove trash from drains and spouts
• Follows work instructions to perform preventative maintenance as required by frequency schedule
• Assists in maintenance of premises
• Changes lightbulbs and perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs
• Monitors setting/unsetting security to building

Required Experience

• 6 months plus experience with industrial custodial work in an industrial manufacturing environment: Required
• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Associate’s Degree (two-year college or technical school): Preferred, Field of Study: Building Maintenance

• General knowledge of industrial cleaning machines: Preferred
• General knowledge of Lock out/Tag out process: Preferred
• Knowledge of various lighting fixtures: Preferred 
• Familiar with various types of hand tools: Required

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook): Required
• Valid Drivers, license must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch Insurance standards.

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
• Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically and internationally

Physical Requirements

• Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15lbs
• Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
• All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
