Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for an Engineering Technician I at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!
The Engineering Technician I position is responsible for assisting in the design, development, installation, and testing of electrical, electronic, and mechanical control systems including PLCs, cell controllers, and robotics/automation.

Job Responsibilities
- Generates PLC and HMI/OIT (Human Machine Interface/ Operator Interface Terminal) control program code including various automation communication protocols.
- Assists in the design, development, installation, and test, of electrical control systems, control panels, PLCs, cell controllers, and robotics/automation.
- Assists with product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust, test, and repair equipment.
- Provides technical assistance and resolution when engineering problems are encountered with production equipment or units for shipment.
- Collaborates with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve technical issues.
- Analyzes and interpret test information to resolve production and system launch problems.
- Writes work instructions and preventative maintenance procedures for new and existing equipment and devices.
- Draws or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of manufacturing and automation equipment.
- Assists with the generation of mechanical drawings and CNC M/G-Code programs for use in production and/or tool room areas.
- Conducts inspections in accordance with quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.
- Assists Maintenance with machine downtime troubleshooting, repair, and training.
Required Experience
- 3 years’ experience in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, equipment installation, or field service: Required
- Working knowledge of digital test instruments (i.e. multi-meters), PLC programming, Operator Interface Terminals and similar automation control systems and components: Required
- 3 years hands on experience with common hand tools used in a manufacturing environment: Required
- Working knowledge reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings: Required
- Experience in technical writing: Preferred
- Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) or Work Experience Equivalent, Field of Study: Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or Automated Manufacturing: Required
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Required
- CNC Programming experience: Preferred
- PLC Programming experience: Preferred
- Valid Drivers’ License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards): Required

Job Requirements
- Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
- Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
- Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically and internationally
Physical Requirements
- Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
- Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 40lbs
- All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
