The Electrical Designer III position is responsible for assisting in the development of accurate electrical designs and documentation while providing high quality customer service to internal and external customers. The Electrical Designer III will assist in the design, assembly, and testing of electrical control systems and control panels for vacuum pump systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Generates electrical and controls designs for automated vacuum control systems to meet customer needs for standard, general custom applications.
  • Generates sequence of operations and other engineering specification documents for automated vacuum control systems to meet customer needs for standard, general and custom applications.
  • Leads and/or assist in the re-design, creation or maintenance of standard electrical designs, programs and documentation for automated vacuum control systems.
  • Performs bench test (simulation of actual system operation required) and final system testing of automated vacuum systems in the production environment to validate conformance to project design requirements and complete required quality documents.
  • Writes commissioning and initial start-up procedures for electrical installations of automated vacuum systems.
  • Uses the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to create standard and custom items, create BOM’s (Bill of Materials) log project hours and create shop orders.
  • Prepares project cost and work-time estimates.
  • Visits end user sites to provide start-up and commissioning assistance, to include training of personnel on the provided Busch vacuum systems.
  • Collaborates with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve technical issues.
  • Visits customers with the Sales team to provide technical input on sales opportunities as directed, requested, or required.
  • Develops and/or assist in the review of existing Electrical Engineering guidelines and procedures to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments as directed, requested, or required.
  • Contributes to the continued increased efficiency in use of the design and programming software through an in-depth knowledge of the software.
  • Promotes safety awareness and provides safe work environment
  • Must comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures while reporting all unsafe activities and concerns to the General Manager, safety officer, or human resources.

 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or related field: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required
  • Field of Study: Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or 5 years’ experience in the Electrical Design field
  • Working knowledge of how to read and interpret electrical drawings
  • Working knowledge of digital test instruments (i.e., multi-meters)
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, Operator Interface Terminals and similar automation control systems and components; Familiarity with analog (4-20ma) transmitters, and adjustable pressure/vacuum switches
  • Working knowledge for Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and or Adjustment Speed Drive (ASD)
  • Hands on experience with common hand tools used in the electrical field, technical writing.
  • Working knowledge reading and interpreting electrical wiring, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram/Drawing (P&ID) and associated electrical control documentation
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems, automated control systems, electrical and controls instrumentation, and the National Electrical Code (UL 508A, UL 1203, NFPA 99 and NFPA 79)
  • Valid Drivers’ License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards): Required

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%) domestically and internationally

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
