Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for a CNC Programmer at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

 

The CNC Programmer plays a crucial role in programming, setting up, and troubleshooting CNC machining centers. This position demands strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in trigonometry, and extensive experience in machining theory and practice. The ability to accurately interpret shop blueprints is essential.

 

Tiered Experience Levels:

  • Junior CNC Programmer (0-3 years of experience): Pay range $52,000 - $62,400.
  • Mid-level CNC Programmer (3-7 years of experience): Pay range $62,400 - $79,040.
  • Senior CNC Programmer (7-10+ years of experience): Pay range $79,040 - $93,600.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and optimize complex CNC programs using advanced programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) on multi-axis Horizonal Machining Centers and vertical and horizontal lathes
  • Diagnose and resolve programming and machining issues that arise during production
  • Prepare detailed documentation for CNC programs, including setup sheets, operation instructions, and maintenance logs for Machinists.
  • Continuous improvement on programs (improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality)
  • Use machine shop mathematics and trigonometry to program parts to be within the specified tolerances.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that finished parts meet design specifications and industry standards including programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Selection and implementation of tooling in concert with suppliers for cost and time savings
  • Working closely with Engineering, develop work-holding fixtures, especially for complex cast parts.
  • Gathers real time feedback on program performance and collaborate with shop staff to efficiently make program changes as needed.
  • Possesses deep machining knowledge, including speeds and feeds, tool geometry design, work holding theory, and jig/fixture design.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, and Kanban.

 

Required Experience

  • Junior CNC Programmer: 0-3 years of related experience and/or training, including extensive CNC Machining experience and a basic working knowledge of 3D CAD systems: Required
  • Mid-level CNC Programmer: 3-7 years of related experience and/or training, including extensive CNC Machining experience and a basic working knowledge of 3D CAD systems: Required
  • Senior CNC Programmer: 7-10+ years of related experience and/or training, including extensive CNC Machining experience and a basic working knowledge of 3D CAD systems: Required
  • CNC programming of multi-axis machine tools: Required
  • Experience with metal working cutting tools research, selection, and implementation: Required
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T: Required
  • Experience with Makino Pro5/Pro6 and/or Fanuc CNC Controls: Required
  • Experience machining Castings: Preferred
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school): Required
    • Field of Study: CNC Programming, Computer-related field, or mechanical: Preferred
  • Machinist or Tool-Die Certification from an accredited technical school: Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel): Required
  • Experience with CAM software: Required
  • Experience with Siemens NX: Preferred
  • Valid driver's license must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch Insurance standards.

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check.
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%) domestically and internationally.
  • German/French language skills are a plus!

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
