The Buyer III is responsible for Request for Quotes (RFQ), and processing Purchase Orders (POs) ensuring compliance to project margins and delivery requirements. He / She prioritizes and expedites materials and schedules with key suppliers. Supports Engineering in researching products, clarifying specifications, and providing quotes. And is responsible for the execution of new items and purchase orders into the computer systems and updated delivery schedules of materials and documentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the planning requirements and processes Purchase Orders for assigned commodities.
  • Research products clarify specifications, process requests for quotations, and communicate best options.
  • Select suppliers based on comparative pricing, historical purchase, internal direction, sole source, time factor, experience, and vendor ability to meet the pricing, delivery, and quality objectives.
  • Process all aspects of Purchase Orders from initial request or requirement to approval of supplier invoices, process to include but no limited to; sourcing materials, selecting suppliers, verifying and negotiating pricing and delivery, following up delivery dates, backorders, receiving, quality, and or invoicing problems.
  • Verify pricing in comparison to standard costs and maintain pricing by Supplier by item and price books in the computer system to include alternative suppliers when applicable.
  • Qualify and maintain contracts with suppliers and provide feedback regarding performance and cost initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Production department on any changes in the production planning that affect material deliveries.
  • Verify current drawing revisions are sent to suppliers and forward any drawing or specification questions from suppliers to engineering for resolution.
  • Interface with quality control to maintain quality from approved suppliers.
  • Work with receiving and Quality Assurance regarding any quality problems, repairs, or return of products to the supplier for correction. Follow up with suppliers regarding credit, replacement, or repair.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing Manager, Strategic Sourcing Manager, and Engineer regarding alternative suppliers for cost reductions and delivery improvements and to develop optimal sourcing solutions.
  • Participate in Supply Chain process improvement teams and identify improvement opportunities for potential integration into Supplier contract strategies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding visits to the Busch facilities and visits to supplier facilities.
  • Provide training throughout the company on purchasing processes and practices.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Purchasing Manager

 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Business or Purchasing Logistics
  • 7-15 years of experience in purchasing: Required
  • Experience in legal aspects of purchasing and basic regulations
  • Experience in contract review and management
  • Knowledge of a variety of commodities
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, prior experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems: Preferred
  • A valid driver's license must be maintained throughout employment at an acceptable level meeting Busch’s insurance standard.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM): Preferred

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, and misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
