Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for an Assembly Supervisor at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia! 

 

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for ensuring efficiency and quality for a desired quantity of work. A high level of responsibility is expected in this position. Setting high standards to reach production goals, while ensuring that higher quantities are produced while not compromising quality, is also key. Continual implementation of process improvements to eliminate waste and reduce costs is expected.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads a group of 30+ employees daily to hit KPIs at USM
  • Reviews and updates Shop Floor Management (SFM) boards daily, leads meetings with team members, and reviews the daily plan, and addresses concerns relative to company goals
  • Leads problem solving efforts at the team level
  • Reviews and helps facilitate BUSCH principles (CIP, HPT, TPM, SFM, 5S) with each team lead 
  • Helps to plan daily work assignments and requests overtime as required
  • Provides assistance to team leads as needed
  • Works with other groups leaders to find solutions for the daily problems that arise
  • Escalates problems / concerns to the proper level or department
  • Maintains on time completion of shop orders and delivery dates
  • Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of team members
  • Meets production quality standards 
  • Reports metrics and KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) as needed
  • Leads continuous improvement projects at team member level
  • Maintains quality goals set by management
  • Maintains regular communication with interrelated departments.
  • Work independently or as a team, as necessary, to fulfill department and Busch goals and objectives.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining 5S and Lean activities to improve flow and reduce waste as directed by Management.
  • Must comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures while reporting all unsafe activities and concerns to the supervisor, safety officer, or human resources.

 

 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in general assembly work or mechanical trade work: Required
  • 5+ years’ experience with pneumatic driven tools (air screw guns, etc.) and hand tools (Mallet, hammer, screw driver, t-handle key sets, etc.): Required
  • 2+ years in a leadership role: Required
  • Proficient in the use of measuring instruments, such as calipers, feeler gauges, or micrometers: Required
  • 5 years’ experience with current Busch product line: Required
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school) Field of Study: (Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, Automotive/ Aircraft Mechanics, General Mechanics), technical school, or work equivalent: Preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel): Required

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%) domestically and internationally

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
