Applications Engineering Intern

Busch Vacuum Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Applications Engineering Intern to join our 2025 Summer Internship Program in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role will provide valuable hands-on experience in engineering applications, quoting tools, and project-based design work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Improve the IQuote quoting tool, including entering descriptions, developing/updating templates, and incorporating part numbers.
• Update the systems reference database for recent projects.
• Design and own a Level 1 engineered-to-order proposal, including estimated costing, size calculations, P&ID creation, and presentation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to streamline quoting and design processes.

Key Goals & Outcomes:

• Successfully update templates and revise boilerplate descriptions.
• Strengthen problem-solving and systematic approach development.
• Create a P&ID using VISIO and deliver a Level 1 proposal.

• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to operate independently with structured guidance.
• Conceptual thinking and experience with engineering tools.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Education: Currently enrolled rising Junior or Senior pursuing a B.A./B.S. degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Freshman and Sophomore candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook).
• Personal Qualifications: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, strong communication skills, and a collaborative team player.

• Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen and a 7-year criminal history check.
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE

• Possess strong oral and written communication skills in English

Physical Requirements

• Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
• Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
• All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
