The Role

The successful candidate will undertake technical support, repairs, preventative maintenance and fault finding on the entire Pfeiffer Vacuum product range. Based on Company premises in Livingston, you maybe, on occasion, be required to undertake customer site visits and work in our facility in East Kilbride.

 

The main tasks for this role will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Providing functionality checks, preventative maintenance, repairs, overhauls and fault finding across the entire range of Busch Group products. The focus will be on Turbomolecular Pumps, Leak Detection, Vacuum Gauges and Mass Spectrometry. 
  • Preparation and submission of Service Reports documenting data before and after any work has been completed.
  • Liaising with customers and undertaking appropriate administrative arrangements.
  • Administration support – creation of documents used by service and sales team (assessment/service reports, health checks, training documents).
  • Maintaining traceability of all service jobs using the appropriate software and liaising with customers and the Service Planning Team
  • Answering both internal and external technical queries relating to Pfeiffer Vacuum product range.
  • Liaise with Factory Service Support Department where necessary. Investigate and resolve warranty claims and failures.
  • Assist the Sales Engineers and Internal Service/Sales Admin to provide technical support and advice to help solve problems, customer queries and support sales opportunities relating to general vacuum system design and the product range.
  • Assist with stock checks and management of parts where required.
  • Adhere to Company Service procedures ensuring all H&S and Quality procedures are met.
  • Actively promote and sell the product range including service recommendations and/or contract/service plan advice.
  • Support with building maintenance and checks
  • Reception of workshop deliveries and shipments, picking and packing. A small proportion of the role (approximately 5–10%) involves stores and logistics activities, including stock handling, goods receipt and dispatch of non-service-related items.
  • Use of forklift trucks and lifting equipment where necessary.

 

Your profile

  • Qualified to HNC level of apprenticeship trained in a similar field
  • Ideally a background in electrical and/or mechanical engineering
  • Hydraulics, valves, pumps, pump systems, motors, rotating equipment, hydraulics, capital equipment or similar electromechanical / hydraulic related products
  • Full manual, clean driving licence is essential
  • Logical problem-solving skills
  • Technical aptitude
  • Good IT skills
  • Good communication skills with ability to build relationships with colleagues and
  • customers
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and ready for a challenge
  • Able to plan and work independently
  • Respects others and have a positive attitude towards diversity
  • Willingness to learn and build on existing skills
