Busch Vacuum Solutions has a direct-hire opportunity for a Business Development Manager for our Food processing market segment.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing new business and new business opportunities in assigned market segments and/or geographical territories. As segment champion, the BDM is focused on developing value-based solutions by working closely with targeted segment accounts to fully identify segment needs. The BDM works to assess and analyze the gaps between those segment needs and existing business capabilities, developing a plan to close the gaps based on their ranking and prioritization. To best manage plan priorities, the BDM must be able to objectively observe and accurately anticipate the needs and initiatives of the targeted segments.

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct a market analysis and identify customer segments, market needs, roadblocks, competition, pricing and global position.
- Create a strategic plan to grow the business.
- Work with Sales to identify & qualify targeted prospects or customers, focusing on companies within the target segment that share our business philosophy.
- Develop a mutually beneficial business partnership with each target that is focused on providing a value-based solution that addresses their specific need(s).
- Work with the target account(s) to better understand the capabilities required to support the solution, identifying the gaps in the business between met and unmet needs of the segment.
- Manage a gap analysis process to rank and prioritize the gaps with proper documentation and financials (cost, benefit, risk, timing, etc.).
- Working with Project Management, champion a cross-functional project team that is tasked with closing the gaps.
- Develop the Marketing & Sales Strategy for the targeted market, including necessary sales tools, product documentation, pricing, and promotion strategy.
- Work with Sales to launch the strategy and provide all relevant training, guidance, and technical and market support during the launch stage.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required, Field of Study: Engineering or related degree: Preferred
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, prior experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management): Preferred
- Certifications & Licenses: Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment
Personal Qualifications
- 6+ years of proven experience in sales of rotating equipment, vacuum pumps, blowers, or related systems.
- Relevant market experience and expertise related to the fine vacuum field
- 5+ years of experience in business development or related vacuum equipment sales experience
- Strong understanding of vacuum industry food manufacturing markets, customers, products, dynamics, competition, and influential players
- Analytical and financial justification knowledge and skills
- Proven ability to influence others and execute a plan
- Must be able to objectively observe and accurately anticipate the needs and initiatives of the targeted segments.
- Knowledge and understanding of technical/mechanical concepts and good mechanical aptitude
- Detail, safety and customer-oriented
- Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Good work values, ethics, and integrity, and the ability to influence your team to demonstrate the same
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
Job Requirements
- Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
- Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
- Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
- Must maintain a valid drivers’ license that meets Busch insurance standards
- Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and manually manipulating
- Occasional reaching above the shoulder or outward, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 20lbs
- All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
