Busch Vacuum Solutions is actively seeking a talented Senior Sourcing Buyer to join our team at our Virginia Beach manufacturing facility—this is a direct hire opportunity with immediate impact!

 

In this strategic role, the Senior Sourcing Buyer will serve as a commodity manager for assigned categories, responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies. You’ll manage a broad range of purchasing activities, including RFQs, cost negotiations, supplier contracts, and sourcing decisions. Your efforts will directly contribute to cost reduction, quality improvement, inventory optimization, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to lead and/or execute sourcing initiatives.
  • Solicit competitive quotes from current and potential suppliers, ensuring accurate documentation and resolving technical queries in coordination with Engineering and Quality teams.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership to drive cost-saving initiatives and support new product development.
  • Monitor commodity trends and develop data-driven pricing analyses to inform negotiations.
  • Coordinate with global purchasing teams in Germany and Switzerland to support international sourcing efforts.
  • Assist in drafting supply agreements and build strategic plans with major suppliers for pricing, inventory management, and delivery performance.
  • Lead negotiations on commercial terms and supplier agreements.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure supplier responsiveness and effective resolution of quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement through supplier quality and delivery initiatives, issuing Supplier Corrective Action Requests as needed.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to meet Busch’s standards for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Foster ongoing communication with suppliers, providing regular feedback and collaborating on cost reduction strategies.
  • Organize and facilitate supplier visits, both at Busch and supplier facilities.
  • Maintain accurate pricing and vendor data in the LN system.
  • Support Buyer/Planners with escalated expediting challenges.
  • Follow Global Sourcing and internal processes, while contributing to ongoing process improvements.

 

 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Required
    • Preferred fields include Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, with demonstrated strategic sourcing capabilities: REquired
  • Working knowledge of business ethics and legal considerations in purchasing: Preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups) and Word: Required
  • Experience with PowerPoint and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management): Preferred
  • Valid Drivers, license must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch Insurance standards.

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 20%) domestically and internationally

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15lbs
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs
  • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
