Quality Assurance Specialist

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.

We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist join our team at our manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is a direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of quality across production and operational processes.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for leading the creation and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation, managing nonconformance by analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions, and overseeing Statistical Process Control (SPC) to maintain process control. You will play a key role in maintaining quality documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS), supporting internal and external audits, and ensuring ISO compliance (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).

Additional responsibilities include supporting continuous improvement efforts, developing and tracking corrective and preventive actions, and preparing documentation for Management Review meetings. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to drive quality excellence and support ongoing improvement initiatives within the facility.

Job Responsibilities

• PPAP Preparation: Lead the creation and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation in accordance with customer and industry standards.
• Nonconformance Management: Manage internal claims and analyze internal rejections to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation Control: Update and maintain Work Instructions, Procedures, and Forms within the QMS together with ME.
• SPC Monitoring: Oversee and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to ensure processes remain within control limits.
• Audit Management: Plan, conduct, and follow up on internal audits (process, product, system) and support external ISO audits.
• ISO System Maintenance: Maintain ISO documentation and records; ensure compliance with relevant ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
• Corrective & Preventive Actions: Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions based on audit findings or internal quality issues.
• Management Review Support: Prepare data and documentation for regular Management Review meetings.
• Continuous Improvement: Work cross-functionally to support initiatives that drive quality improvement throughout the organization.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management or a related field: Required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Systems role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment: Required
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 standards: Required
• Proficiency in core quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and APQP: Required
• Proven experience in planning, conducting, and reporting on internal audits: Required
• Experience utilizing root cause analysis tools including 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, and 8D problem-solving methodologies: Required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint): Required
• Experience with QMS software tools: Required
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills: Required
• Certified Internal Auditor certification: Preferred
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems: Preferred
• Valid Driver’s License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards): Required

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
• Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally, including occasional overnight stays

Physical Requirements

• Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 15lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
• Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 50lbs
• All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
