Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity for an Painter/Crater at our headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

 

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (with flexibility as business needs arise).

 

Targeted Compensation: The targeted compensation for this position is $18.00 per hour, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

 

The Painter/Crater is responsible for preparing and applying finish coatings and paint to completed vacuum pumps and systems in accordance with Busch quality standards. This role includes performing all necessary surface preparation, masking, and buffing to achieve a high-quality finished product. The Painter/Crater is also responsible for maintaining the paint booth, tools, and equipment to ensure they remain clean, safe, and in proper working condition.

 

In addition, this position supports shipping operations by safely packaging and crating vacuum pumps and systems to ensure they are properly prepared for customer shipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare pumps and systems for painting including masking, taping, filling and sanding as required for smooth finish
  • Mix enamels, lacquers, and epoxy paint
  • Apply appropriate coatings and paints to pumps and systems
  • Regulate inventory of all necessary painting supplies
  • Maintain paint booth and equipment
  • Follow work instructions for labeling and literature packages for pumps and systems
  • Operate wood cutting tools, power tools, nail guns, and other equipment necessary for crating
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels for crating supplies
  • Operate industrial gas powered forklifts
  • Safely rig systems and pumps for placement on pallets

 


Required Experience

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • 2 plus years experience in industrial equipment painting to include mixing and applying enamels, lacquers, and epoxy paints: Required
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and practices as it relates to painting: Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel): Preferred

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Willingness to travel domestically for training
  • SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings): Preferred
  • Valid Drivers’ License must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 20 lbs.; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, and manual dexterity; occasional climbing, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Ability to hear audible alarms and maintain the visual acuity necessary to safely perform job duties.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, coveralls, and a respirator when required.
