Maintenance/Custodian

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.

We have an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Maintenance Custodian at our manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for supporting the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of our manufacturing facility and surrounding property. This is a hands-on role that includes industrial custodial work, removal of trash, recycling and machining debris, grounds maintenance, preventative maintenance activities, and minor facility repairs.

This position will also regularly work with industrial equipment, including forklifts, and previous forklift operating experience is required. This role may also involve working at heights using scissor lifts or other lift equipment.

This is a 1st shift position, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, and is fully onsite at our Virginia Beach manufacturing facility.

Targeted Compensation: The targeted compensation range for this position is $17.00–$19.00 per hour, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of recycling, trash, machining chips, and other facility debris.
• Operate recycling equipment, including cardboard and wood crushers and/or balers.
• Sweep and scrub main aisles and maintain clean, safe work areas throughout the facility.
• Maintain exterior areas, including parking lots, smoking areas, flower beds, and other grounds.
• Inspect rooftop areas and remove debris from drains and spouts.
• Perform assigned preventative maintenance on facility and equipment according to established schedules.
• Assist with general maintenance of the facility and surrounding property.
• Perform minor facility repairs, including basic electrical and plumbing tasks.
• Change lightbulbs and assist with maintaining facility lighting.
• Safely operate a forklift as part of regular job responsibilities.
• Work safely at heights using equipment such as scissor lifts or boom lifts.
• Assist with building security procedures, including setting and unsetting the facility security system.
• Drive a company vehicle as needed to pick up supplies and materials.

Required Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months of industrial custodial experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment required.
• Previous forklift operating experience required.
• Experience using various hand tools required.
• General knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment preferred.
• General knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures preferred.
• Scissor lift experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email, required.
• Valid driver's license that must be maintained throughout employment and meet Busch insurance standards.

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
• Ability and willingness to travel less than 5% domestically for training purposes.
• Ability to work off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to support facility maintenance and business needs.
• Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, bending, grasping, reaching, and manual activity throughout the shift.
• Ability to climb, crawl, squat, and kneel as required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to safely work at heights above 20 feet using appropriate lift equipment.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where exposure to dust and moderate noise may occur.
• Must be able to wear all required PPE, including safety glasses, electrical-hazard-rated safety footwear, hearing protection, hand protection, and personal fall protection.

Work Environment

This position works fully onsite in our Virginia Beach manufacturing facility and performs work throughout indoor and outdoor areas of the property. The environment includes moderate noise levels and potential exposure to dust. The position may also require working at heights above 20 feet using lift equipment.
