We have an exciting direct hire opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist II at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

 

The CNC Machinist II is responsible for setting up and operating multi-pallet CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components that meet established specifications and quality standards. This role performs complete inspections of machined parts, makes necessary tooling offset adjustments, manages tool life, troubleshoots machine and tooling issues, and helps drive continuous process improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

 

This is a 2nd shift position with the following schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 PM–3:30 AM, and Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM.

 

Employees will train on 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, for approximately 90 days or until leadership determines they are ready to transition to 2nd shift based on business needs and training progress.

 

Targeted Compensation: The targeted compensation range for this position is $25.00–$29.00 per hour, plus an applicable shift differential, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multi-pallet CNC machining cells according to established processes and production requirements.
  • Perform visual and complete dimensional inspections of machined parts according to process sheets.
  • Verify dimensions using standard shop computations and precision measuring instruments, including Vernier calipers, step Verniers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Make minor tooling offset adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Control and monitor the tool life management system.
  • Perform tool setting and utilize advanced CNC tooling processes.
  • Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues.
  • Schedule multi-pallet cells and set up and run jobs across multi-pallet machining equipment.
  • Identify and resolve machine alarms.
  • Perform basic Renishaw probing operations.
  • Read and interpret G-code and M-code used in CNC machining operations.
  • Perform basic CNC machine maintenance and upkeep.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of parts produced and support continuous improvement efforts focused on eliminating waste and reducing costs.

 

Required Experience 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience operating CNC machining equipment, including tool setting, gaging and measuring machined parts, and troubleshooting Fanuc error codes, required.
  • Ability to read G-code required.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspecting machined components required.
  • Intermediate understanding of G-code and M-code required.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machine maintenance and upkeep required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel, required.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field, machining apprenticeship, or related technical training preferred.
  • Experience with CMM, claw grinders, sand blasting, coating, drill presses, deburring, and cleaning stations preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen and 7-year criminal history check.
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically for training purposes
  • Ability to work off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing, walking, and manual manipulation throughout the workday.
  • Frequent reaching and grasping and use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Occasional climbing, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to push and pull materials and equipment as required by the position.
  • Must have sufficient near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and be able to hear audible alarms.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE, including safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection, and hand protection as required.
